    Question A Knitting "How-To?" Question

I am trying to design a capelette for my sister. She's a sculptor and likes to wear something warm when she's out in her studio in the winter. However, she needs to have her arms free. I once crocheted a horribly ugly thing (that she 'says' she loves) but I want to make her something that is closer to 'nice'!

I looked around and found some patterns that were close, but not quite what I imagine making. My design is to start at the neck and work my way down with increases along the way until the bottom hem is wide enough to encircle her body. I intend to create a button-up front so she can leave it open if she wants.

My problem is that my increases aren't working out very well. They end up looking too stair-stepped. I am aiming for a yoke that increases from the neck opening to shoulder width, and then rounding off the shoulders until the shawl is wide enough.

Another problem: How wide is "wide-enough"? It has to be wider than a sweatshirt.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

I found a blogspot that I found has a lot of good info about knitting. Sometimes I have to read through the instructions a few times to understand. The index for the site is at https://techknitter.blogspot.com/201...index-for.html and the increases about half way down the page. One page specifically for a very nearly invisible increase is at https://techknitting.blogspot.com/20...-increase.html You may want to look at some of the others. I can't help with the other but you may get some ideas from https://duckduckgo.com/?q=capelet+kn...ages&ia=images
