So sorry to hear this happened to you. What a horrible violation it is to have soemthing stolen from your home. Hopefully the thieves will be found and punished. Great tips on how to protect home intrusions. I keep 2 cans of wasp spray by more door. Used to be used for wasps, now I will not forget this great idea. (Hope I never need to use it).

Good Idea!! Maybe the word will spread that the "WASP" lady is one you don't fool with. I agree about the barking dog!! I have a little guy with a "big" bark. I send him to the door first so I can "peek" to see if I know who it is. If I don't I let him keep barking.

The nerve (he,she, they?) had to come into your house while you were home! My mom lived in a gated community with a 24 hour guard and they were getting burgled there, too. The crooks were climbing the fence near a wooded area. I'd get some motion detectors or at the very least those alarms that sound when a door opens.

Sad to say but they are everywhere these days. I'm sorry for your loss and just glad you came to no harm physically.

I've had my purse stolen from my car parked in driveway at 2:00 pm. I just went into the house for a few minutes. We know it was the meter reader...but can't prove it since he took the cash and threw the purse into the bushes. You never know. Sorry this happened to you.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but I appreciate your posting it here. You've given us some good ideas about how to make our houses safer. I, too, leave my purse out, handy for grabbing on the way out (I'm usually in a hurry), but I won't anymore, thanks to your advice.

Sorry for your unfortunate incident, but great advice for all of us. I know a lady that keeps her purse in her dryer.

I am so sorry this happened to you. What a nightmare! You certainly have a good attitude, however.

How creepy to know someone was in your home while you were sleeping. I am so glad you and your family were not hurt.
