I have a kitchenaid but i bought my daughter a hamilton beach classic stand mixer. it is a stand mixer but it comes apart and it is also a hand mixer. boscov's.com has it just do a search it is normally $70 it is on sale for $39. boscovs also has a sunbeam for $49.99 reg price $99 and another sunbeam for $59 both have 350 watts which is a heavy duty mixer. they are having free shipping on purcahses of $50 or more. depending on what you plan to use it for check the watts even on kitchenaid as they have different watts. kneading bread dough takes more watt's then a cake would and you wouldn't want to burn out the motor.

My Daughter got one before Thanksgiving for Christmas cookies, she is planning on using it next week, she has a real heavy duty one, I use a wooden spoon for mine - works well for me.

I have a kitchen aid stand mixer as well, it's a real workhorse! I've had mine for 13 years now and it's still going strong. :)

I have a Kitchen Aid.....

One year my husband got it for me for Christmas.. When the kids and I were driving down the road I tricked them into telling.. I had a suspicion but wasn't sure. Well needless to say that mixer is what the entire family talks about how I was sneaky in finding out the truth!

My words were.. O I know what dad got me for Christmas I just don't know the color.. and out of the mouths of babes came you know about the mixer!

GOTCHA kiddo was my reply in my head of course!

I received a Sunbeam Mixmaster as a wedding gift...30 years ago!!! It has been wonderful. The only thing I have had to replace are the beaters. That said...it is starting to not have quite as much power as it once had and I am planning to purchase a new mixer, probably in the spring. When I do that, I will be getting a Kitchen Aide...they are awesome! My late MIL had one and I enjoyed using when I was visiting at her house. Actually, I know my FIL would love to get rid of it...he does not cook...and has suggested I should just take it. BUT...BIL/SIL gave it to her...and they are the 'difficult' members of the family. LOL No way would I ever bring it to my house!
