I have never owned a good mixer. Over the years, I have had several hand mixers that went kapooey pretty quickly. I always pull out the old stand by Hamilton Beach hand mixer my mom got for a wedding present in 1965. Not surprisingly, it is not up to the task of cookie or bread dough and some days neither are my hands.

I have pretty much decided to buy myself a nice stand mixer. What do you have? What do you like about it? What do you wish you had instead? Does anyone have one that is old? I won't mind spending the money as much if I think it will last for years.

Advice please. :)

I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and absolutely love it. Asked for it as an xmas gift one year. I don't have any complaints about it. I've had it for about 10 years now and still love it. It's been able to handle anything I've made in it. Cookies, bread dough etc. You can add attachments to it as well, I've yet to do that. Good luck with whichever you choose!

I have a Kitchen Aide stand up mixer and my back up hand mixer is one made by Wolfgang Puck love both of them. Remember you get what you pay for. If you like to make breads, cakes cookies and such you need one with some power so you can mix your batter w/ ease

I also recommend the Kitchen Aid. My mother has had hers for YEARS. I have one also. They are work horses. I don't even own another mixer.

I bought my kitchen aid stand in 1992 and opend a small bakery, made several dz donuts, cookies and cakes , and loaves of bread 6days a week for 8 mos. I wore out but my mixer is still going strong. I paid $259.00 at that time, no idea how much they are now.

Wow! If Kitchen Aide could see this site, they would be smiling! Sounds like Kitchen Aide is a good mixer.
