Default Looking for Some Help from Knitters!

Hey guys... I consider myself to be a pretty experienced knitter, but the gauge on this pattern has me stumped! How would you interpret this:

    Gauge: 12 sts = 4” (10 cm) in St st; 19 1/4 sts and 14 2/3 rows = 4”

Do you think the second gauge would refer to the pattern stitch? There are both double seed stitch and cables in the pattern. Guess I should post a link in case anyone wants to see it:

    http://pampowersknits.com/patterns/o...-wrap-pattern/

Isn't it gorgeous? I saw this design in a recent Annie's Attic catalog but purchased it directly from the designer's website because I needed to download, couldn't wait for it to come in the mail (LOL). I already swatched using a yarn different from what is in the pattern, but the yarn is too bulky so I need to reswatch with a different choice. I'm using a cream color and it is so pretty!!

    Any help is appreciated!!

Well, now I'm going to answer my own question (LOL)! I did a little Googling and came up with an answer. It appears that the entire gauge section doesn't print on the pattern, for whatever reason (strange). But, here it is:

GAUGE: 12 sts = 4” (10 cm) in St st; 19 1/4 sts and 14 2/3 rows = 4” (10 cm) over plaited cable pattern using larger needles

Now, THAT makes total sense! Guess I was pretty much on the right track with my assumptions. Good to know my logic hasn't completely left me yet....!

Since you have 2 different sizes of needles, this pattern gives you two different gauges according to the size of the needles. The sample should be done in Stockinette (1 row plain, 1 row purl). St stands for stockinette, st for stitch

Size 13 needles in Stockinette stitch 12 st=4 inches
    Size 11 needles in Stockinette stitch 19 1/4 stitches , 14 2/3 rows = 4 inches

A sample is always done in Stockinette unless a specific indication is given. The sample is done to ensure you have the right size of needles according with your yarn .

I just love your pattern, need more help just PM me!

I saw your second post , which makes sense, too bad they left out an important indication. Keep on reading attentively, some designers or pattern writers omits important informations. This happens often when the pattern was originally written in French, as an example they tell you space 12 increases on the next row.i

Glad you figured it out. Have you seen www.knittingparadise.com? Cool knitting site.
