Are the strips the same width their whole length or do they narrow toward the center where they join? Can't tell from the picture.

Yes, they are the same width, and yes they narrow in the center where the button is, only it is a covered piece of wood. It is a flip & stitch method.

That is one awesome tuffet! So different! It looks very big too. I wonder if it could be sized down for the little kids and made without the coasters, I guess that would make it a hassock. Hm...
