Wow! There are so many things it would take an hour to name them all. Too bad for the younger generations.

A darning egg?

Try feed stores for the fake eggs for chickens. Still a
few farms around and maybe some farm lady might
have a bunch of them still around. Just Might.

[quote=katiebear1]I want to know how they keep them from falling down to their ankles
--------------------------------------
That question had bugged me for a long time. So I asked one
of my friends with teens to find out from one of the kids they knew. She was told that boys had a string from the back of his pants that hooked onto the back of his shirt, or in one case, his long hair.

The way they look makes me want to grab a wet towel to wipe up whatever falls out of their diaper under their messy looking pants!

Type writers. Anyone still have one of those tucked away?

And I still have my much loved first edition Macintosh 512 computer.
It has 1000 lovely shades of black, grey and white. And it still works, even though I got it in 1985. It was considered a real marvel at that time, and the kids' friends all wanted to play with it, but it was far too expensive to let them touch it. And no one knew how to use it till we had actually READ the user's manual.

Accurately spelled words, as in lists of spelling words children are to memorize...
The ability to accurately add quickly without use of a calculator....
Reading the time of day when using a clock with "hands" versus a digital clock.

How about shorthand? I regret not keeping up with it. So many times it would have come in handy for me.

My granddaughters heard the unfamiliar (TO THEM) name, "John Wayne" mentioned tonight, asking us "Who is that?" My husband and I nearly fell out of our chairs. They did not know Lassie, or a string of very famous folks. ONLY one we asked if they knew, was "Lucy" of "I Love Lucy" TV Show...and that is only because we had introduced them to the series on previous visits.
Put this in perspective...TEXAS kids, who don't know John Wayne.

The art of cooking a meal has really gone by the wayside.

Doesn't anyone peel potatoes anymore? I actually heard a lady ask for the formed beef patties and was leaving because they didn't have any. I told her that the meat was the same in the package, but she didn't want that - she wanted them
already formed. IMHO that's why prices are so high on everything, because people will pay the price for the convenience of having someone else do the prep work.
