Oh, you love making soap. Boy did I mis-read that title.

Neat looking soaps - nice job!

It's been years since I've tried making anything like that. If you (or Rebecca) decide to start selling please let me know!

Rebecca,

How lovely to meet another soaper on here!! When I started soaping "just to try something new" I never thought it would become an addiction! But it has and it'll be with me always. I am always looking for the newest and coolest way to make a new soap. Do you belong to soapmakingforum.com?

We'll have to share ideas and thoughts. Wish you lived in Virginia!

How long have you been making them?
I've been making soaps for close to 2 years. I never read any books at all. All of my instruction and learning was online. I read everything and anything I could find about making CP soap in all the forums I could find (I became a member of several forums), and in sites like millersoap.com. I read everything I could for 9 months before I decided I was knowledgeable enough to make my first batch. I soaked it all in and took notes. My favorite forum is soapmakingforum.com but there are others like:

teachsoap.com
the-whisk.us
thedishforum.com
craftserver.com

I find that the most active forums are the dish and the soapmaking forum.

As far as hints, there are so many things to know I couldn't cover them all here. That's why the forums are a great big wealth of information from ladies and gents who know everything there is to know and they are happy to share their knowledge. Any question you ask, they will have an answer for you.

Of course if you get started and have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you if I know the answer. Despite my almost 3 years of learning about soap there is still so much I need to learn too :-D

Good luck!

Sibi

I love homemade soaps - I do not make them but my mother-in-law used to make lye soaps - but they weren't harsh - I loved them.

Oh Great! another obsession! Just kidding :) This is actually one I didn't care for (and making candles), but yours are just beautiful...I especially like the first one and the last one...for some reason that one reminds me of (blueberry) cheese cake.

And I agree with Julie...please let us know if you start selling these. I'd love to get some.

Hi! I didn't realize that there were other soapers here! I've been making natural soap since 1998! For the pp that asked, I started with Susan Miller Cavitch's books and now my favorite is Soap Naturally by Garzena and Tadiello. But checking out soapmaking forums is an excellent way to learn all sorts of tips.

Great swirling Sibi!
