Hi Kim, I bought the Ellisimo new a year ago and it didn't come with any software. I don't think they changed that with the new Gold version. I think there are some pretty inexpensive packages out there that you can buy that will do what you need.
Are you a member of any of the Brother Quattro or Babylock Ellisimo groups on Yahoo? If not, you might want to join. I belong to three of them and the members are pretty informed (not me though ). There is one group that won't allow brand names to be mentioned but the group policies will indicate that.

For seeing an exact replica "icon" of what the design is (picture) next to the file name, I use Embrilliance Thumbnailer - think I bought from Designs in Machine Embroidery (you can google it) for $39.95 and I found it very worthwhile.

I have just started to build my library of embroidery files on my computer. My problem is that its difficult to manage because after I store them I cant really tell what they look like stitched out. Is there a software package out there that I can purchase that will show something like "thumbnails" when I open my folders? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated !!! Thanks in advance.
Hope this helps. If no I'll try to you more info if you can give me more details..

Embird is an excellent program, not overly expensive. I haven't gone into the digitizing side of it, just the basic which allows you to change format, split designs and do simulated stitching and look at designs in 3D. I find it it very easy to use and does all that I want from the software.

Thank you, romanojpg, for this link: http://www.freesierrasoftware.com/ I had forgotten about them, would love to learn to digitize and am thinking of taking the plunge with this - looks like minimal investment. Debra Jones of My Embroidery Mentor has a tutorial available also and the way she does tutorials, is probably quite helpful.
To edit or change machine ext., I have used Edit and Stitch from Amazing Designs ($199) and it lets me do all the changing patterns to proper extensions, resizing, coloring, and I even have the pattern up on my laptop when I am stitching it out to see what is going to stitch next and color. Remember, too, when doing colors - you may have a color on the screen, but it is the color of the thread you load that is going to stitch out. If you have purple on your screen and you decide to sew it with yellow, put a yellow spool on sew, you don't need to go back and physically change the color. What is important is where it is sewing. My Brother machines only have the black and white screens that are not very helpful. Also, I rename the files too when I save them, once you have downloaded the pattern, the vendor's numbers etc. don't mean anything to anyone else - it helps me keep my sanity! :-)

Kim, I use the following FREE software. My Editor. They do have a new software, but I have found this software easy to use (there IS a learning curve) and results are good. It also saves in most embroidery files (PES, etc). Go for the gusto!! And don't forget to have fun!
