I saw a blurp on the news regarding a thought that the USPS was thinking of giving up stamps.
Unfortunately it was one of those... Watch the 11PM news for more details....
Might have to watch as I'm coming up with a whole lot of questions...

What will they use as postage if the Post Office decides to do away with stamps? Not everyone uses online billing, or uses/has a computer.
What about things like Birthday and Christmas cards? How would those get mailed if no more stamps?
I talked to my carrier not to long ago, and asked about what they will do per rising gas prices, he said we can't raise our rates like Fed Ex and UPS can - they add surcharge to offset the gas.
Cutting back to 4 - 5 days mail delivery would probably be best.

I don't think it's the economy as much as it's the move to online communication. No one sends letters anymore, many of us pay our bills online, I've moved to paperless bills because that's the way I'm going to pay anyhow, you can send online greeting cards (especially nice now that real cards cost a fortune). I can buy 20 stamps and have them last 6 months. I used to buy them a lot more often.
That has to be cutting their revenue significantly.

Did anyone notice that the flat rate priority mail fees have increased?
I went in to get a couple boxes the other day and saw the new prices posted.
They'll get you every time...I guess everybody has to keep up up the price of gas........
