One place that straight of grain is important. The flange twists when laundered because it was cut slightly off grain. I never sew mine down.

I love making these pillowcases! I had this fabric & didn't know what to do with it...so the cases. Luckily, I had embroidery designs that were perfect. Now I try to match designs to fabric.

I always sew the flange down. Think they look much more finished that way.

Great conversations about the flange...I’m going to try to use a decorative stitch to sew it down.

Chester the Bunny, I love your cat fabric.

I usually make mine narrower, like piping. You could make it with a piping insert too, or leave it off all together. I don't like it twisting or wrinkling either and I know most recipients will not iron...........ugh, who irons anymore? I only tend to do it when sewing LOL

I sew my flange down. And yes, I like to iron. I use to Iron sheets when I first married.....then I got kids. That ended that.

Love both pillowcases that were shared. Really like the idea of a plain cuff with embroidery on them.

Oooh I love the cats pillow case! I cut my flange at 1 1/2" (then fold in half)so it won't be so large? I have sewn some cuff with decorative stitches when not using the flange at a he edge of it
