I always do but a friend thinks it is nothing to be thanked for.

yes, always, and I love the odd looks I get from the people holding the door open....like I'm the only one who ever thanks them.

Yes, always, and taught my kids to do the same.

Of course. I also say "gee, thanks a lot" when someone won't (and I mean the thoughtless inconsiderated way)

Sure do! And don't even think about it beforehand...it's been ingrained in my memory for 65+ years

I sure do! It doesn't cost anything to be polite, and it makes the world just a little cheerier.

My daughter taught at preschool for a few years and taught all her students good manners. The parents said that the children brought them home and taught them! The little ones taught them to not start eating until all were served, to say thank-you and your welcome. To keep your elbows off the table, not to 'lick' you silverware, and the list goes on. It was amazing for the parents, they all were impressed and thanked my daughter many times.

When I am eating out I have been known to 'change seats' because the person in 'line of sight' was so horrible with table manners! And people chewing with their mouth wide open and food dropping out, ish!
