    Good Morning Gang!

I did well on my exercise yesterday. Okay on my eating. Still bad on my water intake.

Today is a new day. I'm fixing to go on my walk. It's a tad bit chilly but maybe it'll just motivate me to walk faster? I won't do much other than that since I have to go be with my sis today while she goes to court (again) with her deadbeat dad of an ex.
After crying loudly at the gas pump, I'll stop at the store and get some salad supplies.

    MJ--you are a treasure.
I've had nasty notes also. Let's move on.
You are great to stick with this when people are mean. It is so tempting to give up.

We have the cutoff! Our last new member of the month:

    52. NCsunshine

From this point forward, anyone can post or lurk but is not eligible to win the prize.

    CHALLENGE FOR TODAY:
I borrowed this challenge from Al-Anon, although I've seen it many times in many places. This is my inspiration when my world seems overwhelming. Tell me what you think...

Just for today: I will try to live through this day only,
and not tackle all my problems at once.
I can do something for twelve hours that
would appall me if I felt that I had to
keep it up for a lifetime.

Just for today: I will be happy. This
assume to be true what Abraham Lincoln said,
*Most folks are as happy as they make up their
    minds to be.*

Just for today: I will adjust myself to what is,
and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will
Take my *luck* as it comes, and fit myself into it

Just for today:I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study.
I will not be a mental loafer.
I will read something that requires effort.
    Thought and concentration.

Just for today: I will exercise my soul
in three ways: it will do somebody a good turn
and not get found out; if anybody know of it, it
will not count. I will do at least two things I
don't want to do-- just for exercise. I will
not show anyone that my feelings are hurt: they may
be hurt but today I will not show it.

Just for today: I will be agreeable. I will
look as well as I can, dress becomingly, keep my voice
    low,be courteous,criticize not one bit. I won't find
fault with anything, nor try to improve or regulate
    anybody else but myself.

Just for today: I will have a program.
I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it.
I will save myself from two pests: Hurry and Indecision.

Just for today: I will have a quiet half
hour all by myself, and relax. During this half hour,
sometime I will try to get a better perspective of
    my life.

Just for today: I will be un-afraid.
Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what
is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the
world, so the world will give back to me.

I also did not get a Pm to introduce myself so I will do it now.

I will be 47 on the 13th of this month. Have been quilting now for about 12 years and have pulled my mother into quilting and she has pulled me into machine embroidery. I have been divorced now for 3 yrs after a 20 year marriage. I have 2 grown sons, ages 26 and 23 and a daughter in law, no grandchildren as of yet, just a grandpup. I have a teacup Chihuahua named Lucy who loves to check out my quilts and see it they will keep her warm.

I am also living with my parents, we have convertered their garage into an apartment for me so I have my own place. I moved home to help them out when mom got sick a couple yrs ago. So now we are helping each other.

As for my weight loss, I need to take off about 50 to 60 lbs total, but my goal is about 5 to 10 lbs a month. I am diabetic with a fatty liver so having to make diet changes to be limited fats and low carbs.

    Thanks MJ for coordinating
Missy best of luck on your weight loss to get to your goal for your surgery.

and good luck to all who are participating and those who joined after the cut off.

    Thank you Xylie55,

Best of luck to you, too. Sounds like a lot of us have similar issues, so there should be a lot of support and empathy for us and everyone else in this awesome group. I believe in baby steps, too!

Knee just got wore; became bone on bone, so I had total knee replacement 3 wks ago, tomorrow. I got serious about my wt loss in December, so it has taken me about 4 1/2 months to lose 22.2 lbs. I started out by making small changes in my food portions and cutting out sodas. I love water so drinking plenty of water is no problem for me. I have a long way to go, to reach my ultimate long range goal. I have set small goals which will eventually add up to my long range goal. I need all the encouragement, motivation, cheering, and inspiration I can get. It is so nice to have this thread to share this journey with others going through the same thing. My exercising is limited, until my knee heals completely, but I realize how very important it is to watch food intake AND exercise. We CAN all do this!!!!! Good luck to us all. Sandy
Thank you,and your so right. We all have a lot in common. We quilt, sew, and need to lose the weight. So,we'll all be in the same boat. One thing I learned yrs ago,was green beans, and dill pickles are free.If I do get hungry,I can have those for a snack,or just eat any time.Good luck and I hope your knee heals good, even tho you can't do exercises, water would be good, like a heated indoor pool. When your doctor says your able.In fact many of you.water may be your ticket too.As it helps support the joints and the weight.Water arobics maybe?we have a pool that is 18 ft only, but I can get exercise in it.

Welcome! We hope you do well.
    Thank you, Purplemem,

I am in my 50's, been on disability since 93 for a variety of autoimmune diseases, and my DH and I are both each others caregiver as he has a rare type of cancer.

I've sewn all my life, so it seemed a natural move to start quilting several years ago. I won my first blue ribbon with my first ever entry last summer in our local county fair.

Married for 26 years, two sons and 8 grandchildren who all live states away. :-( I also love to read, play Scrabble and learn from others on this forum.

Best of luck to all participants.

I have four mental health diagnosis which make it hard to get out and excersise. I'm not good in social settings. I have a great therapist though and have forced myself to get out and swim at the high school pool and walk with a friend. I had weight loss surgery 20 yrs ago and lost over 100 lbs. I kept it off for five yrs then had a major nervous breakdown and started to put weight back on. By 2002 I weighed 233lbs. In 2006 I was diagnosed with diabetis and went on a strict diabetic diet and over three yrs lost 133 lbs. Did well until last fall when I started to gain weight back. I haven't gained alot back but between the weight gain and really poor eating habits that came back also I know I need to get on top of it now before the weight gain is totally out of control and my diabetis goes screwy. I will pray for all of you, I know we can do this together.
Missy - Good luck with your surgery.
