Congratulations Ditter! Pinky is a beautiful dog - I can tell she has very expressive ears. You are a real blessing to Pinky and she is going too be one to you too!

Aw, what a sweetie she is! She certainly seems content to sit and have her picture taken. No matter how nice the shelter or how short a time she was there, she knows that her life changed for the better when she came to live with you. Thanks for adopting a rescue dog.

She's adorable. Mutts have the most interesting ears. All of my dogs were either from the animal shelter or were foundlings. I'm owned by 4 dogs, 2 are muttlies.

Ditter, I've been thinking some more about your dog, and wondered whether they know for sure about the walker hound part. I can see the boxer in her, but the other influence that seems very possible to me is basenji. Basenjis are hounds, too. They can have the colors Pinky has (though they can also be other combinations with white) and their ears stand up. Basenjis are small dogs, in the 24 pound range, so that would help to explain why Pinky is smaller than either a boxer or a walker. Like boxers, basenjis are active without being high strung. Whatever she is, she's adorable!

Here is Cosmo, for comparison. We lost him last year at age 17. He was given to us by someone who was at his wits end because of behavior problems, but it was mostly because the man, who was single, had to leave him alone for 10 hours a day in a small apartment, not a good plan for an active breed. After Cosmo had some room to run and some other dogs to play with he was not too much trouble, but he was always a comical and wily little guy.
