We get this often! Some have even said they were Omaha Steaks! Some were men & even had a gal!! Nope, NEVER have & NEVER will buy from them. They have a freezer in the back of their PU.

I've bought meat like this. It was good meat, and the price beat the grocery store.

One time the guy selling the meat got a little nasty because we would not buy any. He told my hubby he would throw it all out in the driveway. Hubby said go ahead ..... He left pretty quick !!
We don't answer the door now......

Now there was a real mental giant, lol. I think I would have had to call the local law and reported that he was roaming loose in the area.

Oh yes, I've seen this a cpl., of times. In fact, I had a guy at my front door a few wks. ago offering meat. It's always a shock that anybody finds my driveway to begin with. They also hit our RV park in Ariz. during the winter.

They always say "it's the end of the day & we have just a few pkgs. left. Your neighbors down the rd. have already bought the rest of it". That's supposed to add credibility to their sale's pitch.

I fell for it once but was not happy with the quality of the meat. I'm actually afraid to trust the safety of it & you could never find the guys again if you wanted to complain.

I just say no. It might be ok but I'd rather go to a mkt. with a butcher.

I have yet to have a door to door meat man :) however I have bought tamales from the women in AZ who came door to door selling them and they were delicious. Nobody got sick either :)

Yes, I have had the experience. Don't trust anyone selling food door-to-door! I'll buy from a butcher shop, grocery store - but not from a guys pickup truck! No way!

Had this guy tell me that my "neighbor" bought some steaks from him and was very pleased. When he pointed across the street, I said "Oh them! That's odd, they are vegetarians!" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

You should have seen the look in his eyes (oops been caught in a big lie - kind of look)

Haven't seen him around lately! :thumbup:
