Oh no! I don't like mice either but those sticky traps are cruel!
We've used the ones that traps them in then you take it outside and set them free.
I know I'm going to get flack for this but I can't kill things.

No flack! I would prefer not killing either, but it doesn't do any good to set them free when they multiply outside and just come back in.

I full time in a motor home and was told by the folks in the oil and gas fields to get some Irish Sprng soap the orginal and shave it up and sprinkle it around the outside of my motor home to keep the mice away. I did that and also put some in the basements and engin and battery compartments nd it worked. They don't like the order?

I was told the same thing about the odor of peppermint and it didn't make any difference. I will try Irish Spring, but I really think the mice here must plug their noses or wear clothespins on their noses.

I heard the same thing about cloves (which are VERY expensive) and Bounce sheets. Snap traps are the best but even then you sometimes catch one alive - uuuugggghhh...

Around here they just move the turquoise bait. I have some success with placing garlic cloves around.

If you want to get a little dog, I highly recommend a Westie (West Highland White Terrier) We had a mouse once and our Westie took care of it rapidly. They were originally bred as ratting dogs, and they're so awesome. Full of personality.

My mechanic told me they had rat problems all over the garage in winter, they came in from the cold. Someone told him to put out bowls of real, sugared Coke for them. Pour it slowly to save most of the bubbles. Said that the rats drank it and could not belch, the pressure on their hearts killed them. He said he found dead rats around for a long time.

I have no idea if it would work for mice, but worth a try. Dogs and kids could drink it with no more side effects than normal.

EW, EW, EW! As I'm sitting here, I can hear a mouse scratching in the wall. I don't know why, but for me that's even more sickening than seeing the mouse run through the room. We always get mice in the winter, and I think I'm at the point that I'm going to get a cat. We share a two-family house with my husband's parents, and I know MIL isn't fond of cats. But I just can't deal with having mice in my house this year.

Last year we had a mouse for so long, we even named him (Bruno). I wasn't working at that time, and I even came to know his schedule, when he would come from behind the couch, when he would go back, etc.

Okay...this is going to gross you guys right out, but it is really important to know. Mice don't have bladders...they leave a constant trail of urine behind everywhere they go...yes, think silverware drawers...mine used to be full of them. Ugh!
I used to buy those live trap boxes that trap a whole bunch of them at a time and then flush them down the toilet. You put them against a wall in an area they frequent (hint, they follow thier old urine trails) I used peanut butter inside mine.
