There have been some bad hurricanes since I've lived in Florida. Fortunately not in this area of Florida. We did lose power for about 10 days from one, but that was it! We always prepare just in case! They were predicting an active storm season this year....I hope they are wrong. The gulf is such a mess from the oil spill. A hurricane in the gulf would be disasterous for an area already in trouble. :|

I just couldn't believe that those first 2 pics were from Katrina. Looked like storms for sure but not a hurricane. And it didn't look like the gulf coast either.
Anyway, I googled Magee MS & Katrina pics. This is what I found on snopes:

These are actually, according to snopes, photographs of tornadoes and other extreme weather phenomena taken by storm chaser Mike Hollingshead in Nebraska and Kansas during the summer months of 2002 and 2004. Snopes has links to the original photographer's web sites.
