Believe it or not...I went to an hour long lecture on the hydridization of day lilies. This is an industry in my town. Apparently the day lilies we raise in this area are unique and win contests and are like patented. They are cross breeding them now so they are all kinds of colors and have what I call trendils. It was amazing.

My assistant whose husband is a landscaper said you are right she thinks they cross pollinated and mutated. Very unique and if you can reporduce probably marketable.

Yes, I had them & am still trying to dig them out. They are double day lilies & are very invasive & hard to get rid of once you plant a few. I've been digging a lot of the day lilies out as they have such a short bloom time & then have to be cleaned up to not look ugly once the leaves die. And, this year, the deer ate them as soon as they bloomed.

Nurture them! ten years from now they may show up in a bulb catalog, but hed them first!
