My boy got skunked! (literally)

My Buddy (on the right in my avatar) got skunked and I used V8-2 gallons (yes 2 gallons...we had bought it for a function, thank goodness) the smell still lingered; no wheres near as bad but Buddy, the bathtub and I were all ORANGE!!! It was funny!!! AFTER the fact! :)

My cocker spaniel was sprayed 3 times in one month. Took him right to the bath tub and shampooed him with cheap shampoo. It's been a month or so now and he still has some odor. As bad as it smells when someone runs over a skunk it is 100 times worse when it is sprayed directly on a pet. The tomato juice didn't work for me either. Mary

We buy Nature's Miracle by the gallon. Douse the pup and let him dry. We use a soaked washcloth for the face so it won't get in the eyes. Once dry, a bath with doggy shampoo will get it all out. If he ingested any, it takes about 3 weeks to work itself out of the system.
Sorry, I have a personal problem with the Massengil concept. I mean, really - whose girly part were so rank that someone made the connection to skunk? That is just nasty.

I can remember back in the 60's we were up north and the dogs were skunked late one nite. My parents put the 3 dogs in a mobile home we were not using any longer for the noc. Next morning my mom was going to get some tomato juice left the dogs out .Guess what, the dogs didn't smell but the trailer had to be condemn.LOL
