Hmmm. I would have immediately rephrased it to him then..

Hubby: No I haven't actually purchased the spa gift card yet

Me: Oh honey that is great news because I would much rather have this fabric. To make it really easy for you I already have the page up now for gift cards unless of course you want me to just go ahead and order the fabric now, in that case I will need your credit card.

Things like this and a singing Christmas tree one year are the exact reasons that I tell my DH that I want a gift card to a specific store each year. The surprize part is that I never tell him how much to make it for. The reason for that is that he's far more generous than I would be. If I leave the amount to him I always fare better.

Well I guess I learned my lesson.

My husband and I buy our own gifts then give them to each other to wrap, label and put under the tree. Works well for us, no returns, no sad stories.

A spa visit goes away but fabric last forever! But if you quilt too much you might need a spa visit to recover!

Is this his usual behavior? If it is ...boooo to him. I hope he sees the error of his ways. Sorry :-(

I got the same gift from my husband that you got from yours. This is why several years ago, I started purchasing my own gifts. It works out great; I'm never dissappointed!

Instead of a spa certificate you should suggest a divorce certificate instead.

Gee I must have a real gem. I usually get a nice piece of jewelry and money for whatever I want.
