Second, I gotta tell you....that is the funniest thing I have ever seen. I have never seen a bird in a cast before.

Glad he was able to adapt, sounds like he is pretty pampered and obviously well taken care of.
I agree...it is the funniest thing to us too. Who would of thought you could splint a birds leg, especially a bird that only weighs 27 grams. That is less than an ounce.

I wish I had a video camera to record Petie when he runs sideways...it is so funny to see.

You're right, he is pampered. He has us very well trained

They are adorable. Is yours aggressive at all? Petie can be a handful sometimes. He is absolutely fearless, and is an alpha male if ever there was one!

Abby is aggressive, too. I'm her favorite. She nips at everyone else. We also have a Havanese dog. Abby has no fear of him at all. It is so funny to watch them. He will walk up to the cage and she goes into attack mode. He backs right off. lol

Yeah, as adorable as they are, they will take on anyone. We didn't know much about them when we got Petie. Since then we have learned that they really should not be with other birds because they will attack even large birds. Birds are territorial but parrotlets are extremely territorial.

They probably are not for the novice bird owner, or good with children. They can be bitey! We had a cockatiel that was very gentle, and was great with our girls.

But we love our little munchkin. When he gets tired in the early evening he just wants to cuddle and be petted. He is very docile and loving which makes up for all the shenanigans during the day LOL.

Here is an update on Petie.
He went to the vet yesterday and had his splint/cast removed. The Dr. had to administer anesthesia to keep him still. He told us that he places a little helmet over his head and the gas is released. He says "He'll look like a space parrot" Too funny.

The vet thinks his leg looks great, but he will have to strengthen it over the next few days. His little leg was shaved of feathers so it looks a little funny.

So that is my good news...Petie is doing well. He is very happy the cast is OFF.
