My friend got her drivers license!

Good for her. I started driving at 30 my MIL at 50. She had herself retested a couple of years ago. Instructor told her she was still a good driver. I was scared, she was really scared. She is 86, still drives, only makes right turns and is still scared. She lives in St. Louis where speed limits are 30 MPH. She doesn't drive highways.
I decided I was going to drive anywhere I wanted to go and I can and I do. I have made lots of highway trips, long distances.

My maternal Grandmother learned to drive when she was in her 50's. She never could afford a vehicle, so when her sister gave her a car, she learned to drive. She had always either walked to work or hopped a ride with someone. I remember being so proud of her and telling all my friends about her. So good for your friend! I hope she enjoys many happy hours behind the wheel.

That is awesome!!!
I drive for an elderly couple. He is 94 and gave up his license. She is 81 and she never learned to drive. When I asked her why, she replied, "Papa didn't think girls needed to know how to drive."
My dad on the other hand told my sis & I if we wnated to drive we would learn on a stick shift, and we would know how to check the oil and change a tire. He said, "There is no sensible reason on the face of this earth for a woman to be stranded on the side of a road with a flat!"
Miss that man!
Happy Day!

My Aunt Mary got her Drivers License after my Uncle Thurmon passed away. She was well over 50. Uncle Thurmon always drove and took her wherever she wanted to go. I believe it has gave her independence. The only thing that has me stumped is................She will never turn left. She will go out of her way to make right turns, she does not like turning against traffic. I don't know but if gas prices keep rising, she may just learn to take that left turn.
