Mine are shredded every year....by deer! I just cut them way back and get rewarded with new growth in a few weeks. Best of luck!

Slugs like them too ... and can chomp away happily on the salad we provide to them!

Yes=they will come back & it won't take that long. I do it whenever mine start looking back whether it's from drought or whatever. You would have a hard time killing off a Hosta.

Well, I have had issues with the deer here. They do grow back from that, but not as nice. I would just trim some of the worst, and watch to see if you see some new growth, then if you do trim some more. I think I would have some new hostas planted for the affair if they are too bad.

I think too that they will come back. It seems as if nothing can really killl them. You might not get the flowers but too me that isn't the pretty part. I hate those spikey flowers. I cut them off quickly.

I would leave them alone, plants take in nutrients from the leaves too
Fertilize, water and then do the trimming just before the wedding :D:D:D

thanks everybody for the replies-I feel better today :) and will actually get out into the yard tomorrow to assess the real damage since it has been rainy here since last nite. It is great to be able to come here and vent and get so many responses.
