My ideal classmate - -

Sorry to hear that. Never attended a class, but I do know that I cringe when folks chit chat during our guild meetings when we have speakers. The funny thing is that our meetings, which are a lot of fun, have plenty of time for socializing. It's just that some folks can't stop talking. If they carry on too much, someone will usually shush them up. But, I agree, I don't think the offenders ever see their behavior as being rude. Hopefully, your next class will be better.

I visited a guild to see if I would like it, and was totally offended at the members remarks and chatting while the meeting was being held. Also I notice so many families who talk during church service. DH and I had to move from a spot we really liked because the elder's wife and daughter talked through the whole service. It's hard to focus if someone is talking next to you.

Good list.
On the other side of the coin, an ideal instructor should be able to
1) keep to her agenda
2)Shut down distractors
3)Not disparage the machines brought to class Yes, I had it happen. I took my precious little 301 to a FMQ class and the instructor did not approve of her age. AnnieRose outperformed the small plastic wonders in the class due to her vertical bobbin and bigger throat space.

Great list, also add movies and cell phones to that list, they should be off unless one is expecting an Emergency call. DH and I have moved at movies because of " noisy mouthers". Church is for worship not visiting. That can be done before or after the service. I have been known to be tacky enough to "shush" talkers or give them a big frown with my finger to my lips in both places. I go to Church to worship God and I pay to watch a movie or take a class. Yes perfume and cologne should be added.

Add buy the special ruler the class calls for. The teacher will use the ruler she suggests and teach from that. The cost of a special tool should be considered part of the class cost. I have been in classes and the person next to me says I don't have the ruler, may I use yours, the one I brought is too big/little/different. And if the teacher loans her ruler out that irks me. I bought mine, buy your own.
