my Briosa has early kidney disease. very picky but she does eat canned Purina (from vet) NF for kidney disease. at first they had me add a little of same brand but added a little of AD kind for flavor. might try that. and for the running water, try petco or foster and smith animal stuff for a fountain type drinker. many types, many prices but much cheaper than having your water run! they like the moving water and usually drink more. good luck.

I'm taking Benny to the vet today after work. More blood work. I tried the dog food, but he just turned up his nose. My other kitty, TC, hogged out on it.
But today, Benny ate Science Diet canned baked tuna dinner. I kinda psyched him out by using the tuna dish instead of the regular bowl. The fluids are helping. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Absolutely no tuna to tuna water! No fish. Chicken cooked with no seasonings, either boiled or steamed. My kitty had stopped eating, so I bought some new food. Fancy Feast Appetizers. It just a few ounces for a $1.25 but it was just to get back into eating mode. She had lost weight but she eating again. At 15, I know she won't be with me much longer, but I will cherish each moment. I hope you kitty gets better.

Oh im sorry to hear your baby is sick. Prissy (my avatar) was 22 when we had her put down. She got sick one night about 3 years before she died and had a seizure. It was Memorial day so nothing was open but the emergency clinics. We took her to the clinic and they kept her till about 2 am and we had to go back and get her. They said she had renal disease and that we needed to feed her Science diet for Kidney failure. Well we couldnt afford to buy it and she didn't like it and wouldn't eat it. So we bought her just plain cat food at walmart that was formulated for urinary and kidney problems. She lived for 3 years without another seizure. Then one night she woke me up having a seizure, and she continued to have seizures the rest of the night. I counted them and she had lik 40 seizures in about 12 hours time. We rushed her to the vet and they put her on meds and the seizures eased up but when she had them they were more severe. We believe that she had a stroke at sometime during those because she couldnt walk or stand up. I told my hubby that we had to put her down that she was suffering. So we had her put to sleep and then cremated and her urn sits on our fireplace mantel in our bedroom. I suggest just do what the doctor says and make him comfy and as happy as can be. You will know if and when the time comes that he is suffering. I wish you and Benny the best and please let us know how things go at the vet. Hugssss

KD is a prescription food you get from the vet - it's formulated for kidney failure. We found out that our Kiki has kidney failure in the Spring and have been giving her subcutaneous fluids every other day along with the kd food with supplements. There is a yahoo list for cat's in renal failure - it's full of helpful info. In fact just about any question you have, someone there can answer.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this - it's hard, but apparently they can hang on for quite a while with the proper care! You can pm me if you'd like.

I had my darling Neelix on KD for 9 years and then he developed diabetes and is now on a diabetic diet. He loves this food and after I give him his insulin he wants to eat. Of course I have to have ALL my cats on his diet so there will be no food issues.

when ours couldn't eat we gave them kitty milk at least they were getting some nutrients. after they felt better and began to eat.
(they had teeth problems and are old. our 21 year old just went for her shot sat and can eat again now.). i would ask the vet about giving them the milk first with you cats problem. do not give real milk though its not good for them and causes diarhea in cats.
