WOW...21 years...bet they don't make them like that anymore! I have a GE but I really don't use it often.

We only use it for heating up leftovers, cooking sweet potatoes and oatmeal. Nothing fancy. I've been looking at all the different brands and options and it's overwhelming what's available and the price range-wow!

We had a Kenmore also that lasted forever! I'll never forget our son's predicament when the microwave died. He had early lunch in high school - 10:30. Till he got home at 3, he was starved. He liked to warm up a can of soup. But with a dead microwave, he couldn't figure out how to heat it up. He went shopping with me to get a new one. I don't remember what kind. When we did over our kitchen, that micro went to a niece and we got an over the stove one. It's probably a Maytag. We get all our appliances at a local dealer - so much better delivery, sales and service!!

My problem is that my dh is determined that he can install it himself. We visited a local home store and checked the different options. The home store was pushing us to pay for installation, I'm convinced but dh is not. Oh, well...I guess we'll see.

Well, if your hubby is handy, then he probably can. My husband installed ours, and like I said, the hardest part was holding the dang thing up while attaching something or other. Microwaves are bulky and heavy.

I just googled "how to install a microwave oven" and came across all kinds of instructions and even some YouTube videos - why don't you check them out, show them to your hubby, THEN make a decision?
