    Congratulations. My son is also a carpenter.

    Obviously its an "International" difference, so could you please explain the meaning of the Journeyman part.

    It requires 4 years (I believe) working as an Apprentice carpenter and classroom work. He usually went to a week long class every couple of months.

    There are lots of trades that have the same, Apprentice then Journeyman. The next level would be a Master.
