Acouple of weeks ago I got a devestating virus though my email. It rapidly replicated itself and wiped out my computer and ruined my hard drive. Thank goodness I had an external hard drive back up, but still lost all my favorites and downloads.
The computer folks said I set a record for number of virus they had seen on any compuer, 8,625. The virus was "poster customer".
Today I picked up my computer and am sooo happy to have it back. I have lots of catching up to do.
    Have a blessed day, all.

sorry about that. sometimes it seems like no matter how good we are at trying to keep viruses out they still manage to get into our computers.

I had that happen to my old laptop. Hubby found a place where they were able to retrieve all my files. Thank goodness since it had all my photos and scrapbook pages for the last 10 years. Were you able to retrieve any of your files?

Keep all your bookmarks on Google Bookmarks, you can't lose them. I keep all pics uploaded to Google online albums and all my files are stored in Goolge docs. Carbonite keeps everything else plus the files and pictures. I buy a new computer and a few clicks and everything on the old one is right there on the new one.

I hope you have a good email virus program installed now after what you went through. It's sad to lose everything and expensive!

DS who is a tech, finally convinced me to use the free virus protectors. I wish I could remember the name of the one that we use, but it is just not coming to me, sorry. Here is an article from PC magazine that tells you all kinds of free malware and virus protectors.

Thanks, Bellaboo for the other helpful computer hints. I love gmail (Google)!

I have Norton and they back up all my files etc. if something happend I can retrieve them intact but they are very good at catching virus and won't let it in
