By request, a poem, written by Quiltncrazy, dedicated to Butterflywing, and K, my flowery friends.
Let me introduce you to the trio:

Butterflywing is her name, making ppl laugh is her game.
She reminds me of Dr. Ruth, not just in looks, to tell the truth.
She's very wise, and can crack a pun,
You've been told, by the time she's done.
She's a quilter, and knows her stuff,
But don't crack on her, she don't take no slough.

K is a beauty who lives in France,
She calls me big ears, I say Francey-pants.
She has two kids, and cute they are,
    A man, a dog, a cat and a car.
    She gardens and quilts,
    she makes the time,
A better friend you will not find.

QC is, how you say, a quirky quilter,
Sometimes her level is a bit off kilter.
But she is true, and that is rare,
    So she's a bit daft,
    I do not care.
Whacky, crazy, no matter the name,
She's true blue, and plays a straight game.

Joined me up to a quilting board to see what i could see,
All kinds of people, all kinds of quilts, oh what fun this is going to be.
Made a friend, her name is k, that's who she is to me,
She lives in France, with Dugal, and Barney, kids and hubby make three.
Then we met, another quilter, call her, B, for short,
One day she made me laugh so hard, I couldn't help but snort.
Now B has this way, of soft and hard, a very balanced mix,
She likes to joke, but be a lady, so to the snorting, she says, "nix".
Oh the adventures we have had, and we are just beginning,
The comebacks and jokes, and tales we've spun, are sure to keep you grinning.
Now B and K, they think I stir, and sometimes, I tend to pick,
It's from years of living with my hubby, don't blink bc he's quick.
So K grew a garden, and B loves flowers,
Of these things, we could talk for hours,
And we all love quilts, of this we know, but it cost money, let's put on a show.
    Now B is smart,
    And I am poetic,
That leaves, K, and she's coquettish.
So a plan is formed, for our new show, and K, will be the star,
She'll dance on stage, with her marigolds, well at least it ain't a bar!
So B and I, go to K, and say, go share this with your man,
Instead of saying no to K, he says, they have a plan!
K says, it's got to be pelargoniums, or I won't do the dance,
B says, no, it's geraniums, you'll do the dance in France.
I can pick, and be quite funny, but frankly, had to think of fabric money,
So, gotta divert their attentions, and fix this clash,
No time to waste, need fabric stash-cash!
Every star needs a stage name, so I am told,
So came up with a gem, now k's, Mary's Gold.
You can see her nightly, dancing in the light,
What a beauty, going left and right.
Now K gets eighty, me and B, get twenty,
We're never short on stash, heck, we got plenty.
This is our story, of three quilting friends,
Stay tuned, I'm sure it's not the end....

    Thanks, K, thanks, Ninnie!!!!

Just sat here and read the entire thing to hubby...he liked it...woo hoo!!!
Told him, if ya don't read the entire thread, the poem just won't mean as much! waited on pins and needles...cause you know, ....men can think things are cheesy...yum, me likes cheese...lol! (see avatar  )

I was laying bets, on who was gonna see it first, B, or you, K.
You are the winner, but can't wait for B to see it. She's a hard nut to crack, sometimes, LOL...just kidding. Love her so much.
Hubby says i should print this out...lot of laughs here, and wnickers, too!!!

well, B, may be resting up after her trip. think she was on earlier. I would have had it on, already, but didn't know when, and didn't want her to miss it. K, they still sell those armadillo bars, over there? would love to buy some and give in Christmas stockings! present from the south

I missed this thread the first time around, but IBOFLMBO for the last 30 minutes or so catching up. C - your poem is great! and I hope the g- and p- argument never ends! My mom (whose 96th birthday would have been yesterday) told me about g*ms and p*ms YEARS ago, and I THOUGHT I had the differences straight in my head until B and K started wranglin. Tell me again - which ones grow in the shade?

Geraniums are the hardy ones in shades of blue and pink that grow in the shade. Pelargoniums are the showy ones used as summer pot plants - most commonly red but also pinks and purples. And don't let ANYONE (specially not that BW) tell you otherwise! :D

So, K, let me get this straight, The pretty red and pink Geraniums aren't really Geraniums? Is that what you are saying? I can't quilte see that and always thought differently. Don't know what color Pelargoniums are, seeing as how I can't remember ever seeing any. Of course all I know how to do is kill plants, they run the other way when they see me coming> :D So I'll just have to take your word for it until proven other wise!

    Ninnie;

The whole world calls them geraniums - I'm just being pedantic (I went to horticultural college!) - botanically they are genus Pelargonium but of the family Geraniaceae! :D
