Those are amazing dogs.I had never heard of them before. Are they an American breed? Well they are certainly beautiful dogs, and from what you say pretty amazing.

No, they come from Turkey(Anatolian Shepherd Dogs), Italy(Maremma), France(Great Pyrenees), and many other countries where the shepherds needed protection for their animals against predators.

Well they're sure beautiful dogs. Here in Ky the coyotes are making a come back, also the black bear and bobcat. It might be wise to get one of these dogs.I used to live in a hollow back in the boonies, apparently they are having trouble with the local bear population. When I lived there all I had to worry about were the snakes.

They are beautiful! I have a 5 month old Great Pyr/Maremma female who we adore. She even keeps our golden away from the chickens, but is still trying to win over one of the tabby cats. DH is fencing in our meadow now, as he fully expects to come home from work one day and find I have bought Gracie some sheep to take care of! I wish I had her energy.

I love that there is a cat in the middle - completely relaxed & taking a nap.

We increased the number of adult dogs we keep after having the dogs find a cougar up in a tree I HAD JUST WALKED UNDER one morning, so I won't take a step outdoors here without them---- especially at night!
Katie--we usually have some for sale!
