Thank you all for your kind words and ideas. . . I have raised my machine but have not tried to tilt it with the door stoppers or something similar. I see my pain management doctor soon, so I will be sure to ask and see if they have any ideas. . . .The doctors are beginning to lean towards surgery where most of the neck will be fused, so I will definatly be looking for a permanent solution.

Having the fusion surgery was the best thing I ever did. I now have 3 donor bones and a titanium plate in my neck.
The pain ,burning and weakness in arms was gone instantly after surgery.

First I like to say I understand your plight totally as I too suffer from degenerative disc disease in my entire spine. I see a pain specialist and receive treatment for the lack of mobility and the pain that goes with it. If you'd like more information you can PM me and I'd be more than happy to share all the tricks I've learned over the last 10 yrs.

If you are considering surgery please go to a neurosurgeon and not an ortho guy. My DH has had numerous surgeries on his neck and back and the first was done by an ortho. Results not that great but the neuro has had great outcomes. Also don't do anything without approval, heat, traction and other things can lead to more problems. The worse part of the surgery is you'll have to wear the collar 24/7 for about three months but the relief you get will probably make it all worthwhile. And what's 3 months if you can then get on with life and do the things you want to do. Just my $.02. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Talk to your doctors about Thera-gesic pain relieving creme and Bayer's neck and back pain pills. My dh suffers from neck and back pain and the creme and pills help him. Mayo clinic refused to see him, because they said they could not help him.

I have had many issues with pain in various parts of my body and have found a PT to be invaluable. Right now I have a heel spur and that caused my Sciatic to act up. The PT showed me how I need a lumbar pillow at all times plus some daily exercises. Heat also helps a great deal. Please don't go through this alone, get some professional help. Hope you feel better soon.

If you get a chance, you should try one to see if it will help you. Good luck and keep trying different things to see what works best for you!
