You could get tape with snaps already attached. We used to get that for things like baby feet pajamas that had lots of snaps. It just sews on. http://www.joann.com/dritz-white-cot...n/1923051.html

You could also just sew on lengths of ribbon and let her tie it shut, since she knows how, but tying a shoe is easier than tying something under your own chin where it's hard to see.

Yet another option - possibly, if you haven't already cut the fabric - would be to cut the neckline full and put elastic around it, a style like a peasant blouse. You might need a different pattern for that to work.

If your machine has any kind of buttonhole capability, it's probably easier than you think. Once you've gotten a little practice, you'll wonder why you resisted it.

Great idea! Just make the neckline stretchy and use closures for show!
