I'm desperately in need of a haircut. I would like to update my "style" that I have worn for 40 years, but have no idea of what. I've talked with my hairdresser - but she's no stylist. Do you go to a stylist to get a "do" that fits your face and maybe age? Do you look at people around you and decide what you like and try that out on yourself? I'm 61 but I don't want to look it, neither do I want to look like I trying to be young again. Help!

Bobbie, just pick one you like and go with it! I picked one from here and the stylist made it more managable for me.

I feel your pain! But, remember, whatever you decide to do, it will grow out.
There's a salon near me that has some system where they take your picture, put it in their computer, and then play with different hair styles. (Maybe this is what they do on the Mary-Kay website?) If worse comes to worse, take your picture and paste different hair styles from magazine ads onto your head! _:-)_

I have that problem too. I never know how to have my hair cut and styled. I've noticed that a lot of the styles are straight and my hair has a kink. My hairdresser will do the straight styling for me but I'd have to work to keep it and I'm just too lazy for that...I'm a wash-and-go kind of girl.
If I win the lottery I will hire a hair stylist to do my hair every morning!

Boy that is a hard question to answer. I cut my own hair cause I'm afraid someone will mess it up. I know it is just hair but it is long with natural loose curlies and straight bangs. When it is short it is more tighter curls. You just have to pick some thing out you like and go for it.
