I just saw this crock pot recipe in a blog. May be worth the try:

    http://www.simplysugarandglutenfree....lgent-mondays/

Recently, Dr. Oz had a chef on who made babyback ribs with sugar-free ketchup and I think some onion and garlic and liquid smoke. It cut the calories in half and everyone seemed to like it.

Thank you for this post...finding all kinds of nifty recipes and Amy's story is quite uplifting. For sure sugar is an evil ingredient; I know I'll feel better when it's out of my system!

My tummy and face are showing the most improvement so far. Go for it especially if you can exercise too ! WOW ! can't wait to be down enough to get exercising !!!! Let me know how you are all doing , I think we can encourage each other a lot ! big hugs to all.

Good job Tutty! My husband and I used the Atkins diet 7 or 8 years ago to trim down. I lost 35 pounds to get to a BMI of 22-23. My husband lost 65 pounds to get into a normal range also. We live on way less carbs than our previous life and now tend to eat mostly salads, vegetables and low fat protein with occasional whole grains. I found it easier to forgo any type of sweets or sweetners- it was hard, but after not having the 'sweet taste' for a while I didn't crave it. Now it is truly a treat instead of constant bombardment. One idea that I have for you for the tomato flavor - if that is what you are seeking - we use salsa, I just checked - 1 Tbsp of catsup = 4 carbs and 1 Tbsp of salsa = 1 carb. I use salsa for salad dressing as well along with a little olive oil. Oh do I remember those 20 carbs adding up fast! I read the newest Atkins book last year and the vegatables are much more liberal now than they were 8 years ago - they have given the veggies more of a fiber value. Great job - the first 2 weeks are the hardest!

It's a low carb plan, which makes it perfect for people like me with diabetes. At the end of the day it is vegetables, protein and limited whole grains (allowed later in the plan if used for weight loss, pretty much never available to me ;)). Processed foods are pretty much off the menu so it is actually an extremely healthy plan.
