Need Suggestions for Removing Smell/Odor
I've cleaned out a couple of Salsa jars I plan to use for my buttons. It took me a week to get the odor out of the jars but the lids smell the same. I've tried plain vinegar, baking soda, and now bleach. Any other suggestions?

My guess would be the "smell" is in the rubber seal in the lid. Do you have a dishwasher that you can run everything thru to see if the combo of really hot water and detergent would help? another thought is to leave them outside in the sun/fresh air for a couple days and see if that helps.
activated charcoal is supposed to remove smells also. Seal the lids in a container with it.

Unless you need for the lid to fit securely, you could just fashion a new cover for the jar. Years ago, we used to make doll hats, by soaking a circle of felt, in white glue and water (mostly glue). We'd mold the wet felt over a cap (close to the doll's head size), secure it with rubber bands, then wait for it to dry. Once dry, the rubber bands were removed and the hat held its shape. You could do something similar, over the top of the jar.

they use " TANG" in dishwashers.... so maybe try soaking the lids in a Tang solution? or in the Moterhome in TX we store the refrig with newpaper in them to absorb oders... so maybe try wrapping the lids in newspaper and then in plastic bags for a few weeks?

I buy kimchi and reuse the wide mouth bottles and plastic lids, they tend to smell pretty bad. I wash them out really well with soap and water then leave the lid off them for awhile in a well ventilated area-like in front of a window. If I put the lid back on and put them up right after I wash them, then the smell stays pretty long. Time usually takes care of the smell.
