Yes, windows 7 was a learning experience. Still not entirely comfortable with it. :)

I too am a HUGE Chrome supporter...it is so user friendly. Have both Windows 7 and XP...I can deal with 7, but still prefer XP. Give Chrome a good trial..it lets you do lots of "stuff" easily..the History feature is great if you forget where you saw a site...

I had no choice when I bought my laptop. They all had Vista on them now. It was so different from XP that I just gave up trying to learn yet another system.

Now I'm getting a msg. that says it's running out of disk space for HP Recovery. I have no idea what it means or what to do about it. I'm afraid to delete anything for fear of messing things up.

Google Chrome for me. It's worry free of any bad sites and you can sync everything in one. From docs, pics, music, email, blogs, it's all in one place. I don't use my internet provider email at all. I use Gmail. No worry at all about email virus. and no Spam to deal with.

I don't think XP is supported anymore.

No it is not supported any more. Too bad. Why they monkey wit a good thing is beyond me, except to make more money with new operating systems.

I understand your pain. I moved to windows 7 after a zillion years of XP. I figure I'll learn it by the time I go to the old age home.

I think you'll like Windows 7 after you have it a month or so. We have XP on one that's not on the internet any more, Vista on the laptop and Windows 7 on the main computer and I bounce back and forth between them, all the time without any problems and I'm not a geek, so it will all work out for you.

The only thing I didn't like on Windows 7 was the Windows Live mail because I lost all my contacts three times with it. Luckily I had them backed-up, so I went to Windows Office Outlook 2007 and just got the email part of the package. It works a lot like Outlook Express and I like it too, now. Easier than Windows Live Mail, for sure.

What ever program you used should have a "compatability" option when you save the files. A bit like you can save a word 2007 normal file (.docx) as a windows 95 compatible file (.doc) The CD probably wont work becasue ypu saved it all in the 64-bit format but have a rummage in help sections for compatable formats.
