No More Christmas Wrapping Paper
#22
I made reusable gift bags when my children were young.... my baby is now 30 wiht kids of his own.. and all ( 3) kids fought over who got them when I was ready to let go recently..... luckily I had enough to give each child several of their own..... These are now over 20 yrs old and still loved and cherished

I think it is a wonderful idea. I have been thinking about doing something like that, just havn't. I too have lots of Christmas fabrics but never sew Christmas stuff any more.

Some members of my family have used actual fabric to wrap the gifts and a coordinating fabric for ribbon. It was just immediate family. One sister also made fabric bags for the smaller gifts and tied them with yarn. We love it when the following year, the bags are reused. The fabric is kept! LOL
I made stockings for my grand kids and personalized them. At the end of our family gathering, all the kids just empty their stockings and give them back to me. They tell me it is so they can be refilled "next year"!! LOL But it has become a tradition and they do it without me even asking, even the little ones!

My friends and I give presents in bags as well. It is a lovely tradition when you get the same bag again next year, or when it has been passed around a few times. We are trying to think of a way to indicate who has had the bag previously - (short of keeping library records) lol. Your bags look very festive and I agree with you about the ripped paper.

One year, my friend made a pillow case for every member of her family. She used a novelity print that represented something about the person. Perhaps a sport or hobby. Then she used the pillow case for the wrapping instead of paper. They were all thrilled with her clever idea.
