No More Christmas Wrapping Paper

IF you do prefer to wrap you packages in paper, I've found the solid color rolls of paper at Michael's to serve the purpose nicely. "Spiffy-up" the package with the bows / ribbons / trims.
But, I like the idea of fabric bags. Will give that some consideration.
My stash of Christmas and other kinds of wrapping paper is diminishing and has pretty much been replaced by gift bags (which are re-used).
In fact, I am going to a wedding next month and have decided to make a quilted bag with an applique on it. I'll put the wedding gift in that. If I do get it made, I'll post a pix.

I too have made my own gift bags and even fabric gift tags. I also have used reusable shopping bags for larger gifts. They were "free" with a Menards rebate. Kids love them for they can put all their gifts in them at Christmas to take home.

If you have any leftover wrapping paper, put it in a paper shredder and use it instead of tissue paper in your bags. I even buy old torn sheetmusic or old ratty music books, put them in my paper shredder and have a wonderful filler.

I've done that. And I have a funny story about it.
One year I put the fabric-wrapped gifts for each of my grandsons in separate larger bags, and mailed them to their Mom & Dad early in Dec. Mom forgot to hide the big bags before the boys got home from school. The youngest spotted them and said,'Look! Santa was here already, and he left bags for us!'

Years and years ago my hubby bought 100 rolls of Christmas wrap on sale for 10 cents a roll. I thought I would have enough for a lifetime, but I didn't factor in the fact that the kids would keep producing grandbabies and those same kids also keep "borrowing" rolls every year. I think I have enough paper left for this year.
I love your bag idea, and will be buying lots of Christmas fabric when it goes on sale. The cloth gift bags would have another benefit for me, My cats like to unwrap presents and they don't wait til Christmas morning! Next year we might just be paper free under the tree
Thanks for the idea!

I have used fabric bags for years. They are quick to make, easy to store and the wrapping goes really fast with no tape required. I just tell everyone that if I don't get their bag back, then it won't be refilled next year. I've had no trouble getting my bags returned.
