No you may NOT use my sewing scissors!

That's funny! I teach sewing and I have the "good" scissors for only cutting fabric (they all have plastic canvas sleeves to protect them) and "ok" scissors for cutting paper (they have no sleeves). Somehow a good pair of my scissors ended up in the art room - I didn't even know they were missing - one of my students saw them in there and asked me if I wanted them back. I said you bet, so she went and retrieved them and someone was using them to cut construction paper. Really frosted my cookies!! (that's another way of saying really ticked me off)

That is great!!! years ago my son had a friend over and they needed to cut something. I was within hearing distance. My son said to his friend"If you value your like you won't touch my mom's sewing scissors." Yes he knew. Couldn't help but laugh on the inside.

I think that's the one lesson my kids (now adults) did learn from the outset. My BIL bought me a nice pair of Gingher scissors one Christmas when the children were young. My words -- "Now, these are mommie's scissors to cut cloth. We do not cut paper with them. We don't cut hair with them. What do we cut with them?, etc., etc." I still have the scissors (still cutting well, I might add); but I use others for my sewing/quilting. Recently, someone picked up the old scissors to cut something other than fabric, and my son just about tackled them!
