Have a Kindle and love everything about it. The big thing for me was that I could adjust the size of letters for my aging eyes. Do not know anything about the Nook. The downloading takes only about one minute, and mine holds about 1500 books, so if I get bored with one, I have many more to choose from. Certainly don't need color to read my books.

I decided on the Nook after trying the Kindle. I find it more user friendly and more books are free and avaliable. It did not find the Kindle easy to use and there always seem to be a charge for everything - .99 - 1.99. Love my Nook

My friend had both and had problems with other brands...she sent them all back and went with her Kindle. Judy

I use my Droid2 phone to both listen to books and to read them.

I read Kindle on the computer. Downloaded it free from Amazon and they have lots of free books.

I love my nook. I felt more choices were available through Barnes and Noble.

[quote=hazeljane]I'm considering buying either a nook or a kindle. I'm leaning toward Kindle because some of my favorite authors are not available in ePub and Barnes and Noble, but only on Amazon.

I need it to be readable and have lots of books. I don't need it to do anything fancy.

I'm also leery of touchscreen, which makes the Kindle more attractive- I like a real keyboard.

What have you got and what do you like about it?

I have a Kindle, my son has one ... my sweetie has a Nook and loves it( he has the color one) , my daughter in law has the Kobo and she has had the worse luck with it ... everything from not getting the books she ordered to not finding what she wants ... she says a couple of the books she wanted came out of Canada and had to pay some sort of international tax ... she is not happy ... the rest of us are so I love my Kindle I have had it for about 10 months .... the new 139 dollar one is what i got my son for Christmas and he loves it ......lol

I have a Kobo (Borders). Very simple-only one button essentially and light. You can only order from Borders as far as I can tell, but it was priced right for me at the time (of course, as soon as I bought it, Kindle dropped their prices!).

Love my Kindle! Friend got a Nook for Christmas and I found that the bar across the bottom quarter of her screen area seemed like it was in the way, IMHO.
