They are! But I'm having a huge problem finding the right edition to this one book... And so i figured it would be easier to get it from the school... At least this term. We'll see about next term.

Several family members have told me that at the end of
the school year, the ones with rich daddys simply throw
out most of their apartment supplies and walk away.
Anyone could pick up the almost new bedding, toasters,
etc that the more wealthy ones don't want any more.
My husband told me that he and a room mate furnished
their entire apartment with street side finds (Yes, a heck of
a long time ago, but in some places still happens) and then
there's Crag's List and FreeCycle. And thrift shops and yard
sales and Flea Markets. Lots of ways to save money if you
aren't a NEW freak and can't afford new things.

I'm so glad you are excited. I wish you lived closer. I have a refrigerator in my spare bedroom unplugged and unloved (it went to school at Texas A&M and Texas Tech so maybe it graduated but it still works well.)
Textbooks are best purchased after meeting with your professor and getting their particular syllabus. Things will change semester to semester. Some instructors will require certain books, some recommend a book, etc. but all the books will have been listed with the school (are they really telling you what books you need before class even meets?) and given out as required texts. Nothing worse than buying a book you really don't need (recommended isn't required). After teaching several college classes as well as taking my share, I have found that most of those "required" lists that are given out have been generated by some department head somewhere and many professors won't use half of them.
I just checked with my kids who are still in college (on is an undergraduate program, the other in graduate school) and they both say to wait for the syllabus if our $0.04 (inflation) is worth anything.

I just noticed your MS Office purchase wish. You definitely should check with your school. My kids bought their versions for under $20 and the only real difference that I could find was the lack of clip-art on my daughters computer. It could be she just didn't bother to install the whole thing to save space.
The Professional parts sounds more impressive though. I have had educator and professional versions and really didn't notice and perceptible difference.

I'm not sure of the name of the site, but I have heard that you can RENT textbooks on line now. You might want to check it out. Back in the olden day, when I was in college, your only options were the campus book store, or used books you found through ads posted on bulletin boards around campus.

They have it set up where you can look up your particular class, and they have the section you are in (which also lists the teacher) and they can get the book that way, if I go to the book store itself, they can add in what the teacher has on the syllabus. Plus they tell us to buy early, since they tend to run out. But I still have to wait till mid july, which is fine. I'll get them after I get back from ITI then.
