Yes they are and the lawns are brown unless you can water a lot. The daylilies tried to bloom and just withered away. We have lots of dead leaves on the ground, just like winter.

I think we are at 32 days here with triple digits. My Iggy has not been out except to potty. The Arkansas River has grass trying to grow in the almost dry bed.

Mother Nature has certainly been cruel. I hope and pray for relief for everyone. Actually, I'm hoping for some snow!

What is the humidity like? Or is that more in August than July? It's been a while since I spent a summer in Kansas.

We've has a little bit of a break for a couple days, but Friday is due for 99 degrees. Deep sigh.

I feel so bad for those of you who've had unrelenting heat and no rain. vegetation is failing all over. It worries me for the severe snow/ice storms which come in winter.

Sometimes I think we were better off when we didn't have the internet to keep us so abreast of the plagues our fellow countrymen are enduring; it was less daily worrying. Sometimes I have to struggle not to meditate on it all and keep my eyes on my Source instead.

Be sure you keepyour foundation wet. Use a soaker hose about 30 min. three times a week. You sure dont want a cracked foundation. I have cracks in the ground big enough to step in. I have no idea how deep they are. I have seen grasshoppes the last two days.

Right now humidity is at 52% and temp is 82 at 7:42am. 103 high for today, but they say we have 50% chance of rain late tonight and perhaps tomorrow.

Its been that way here to.Its downright scary. I think the earthquake in Japan earlier this year contributed.I saw on the news where it threw the earth off its axis by a few degrees.
