We're in the same boat as Tomilu - I'm in Topeka and it's the same here. I've stopped looking at the thermometer lately - hot, hot, and more hot. Try to keep the garden and flowers watered enough to get them through this - but they are struggling for sure!

Minneapolis Ks [my home] and Hutchinson Ks were the hottest in the Nation yesterday---113---it is not always best to be Number ONE---just hid out most of the day till I had to give the garden a drink and my sister in Escondido Ca keeps telling me how nice it is there and how nice her pool is---the Brat!!!!

I had a wonderful week in CO and when ret'd home to SE KS thought I would die-my back yard has such big cracks in it I have to watch out or you can lose your footing-I am not watering the yard-but do water the plants on the porch- because it is just too expensive. Depending on Mother nature to come through with some rain one of these days.

This pretty much sums up how hot it was in Kansas!!

HOW HOT IS IT IN KS ??
This is Elliot, an English Bulldog, and this is an "un-posed" picture (trust me, you couldn't actually make Elliot do anything) of said pooch trying to beat the Ks heat after his owners emptied their cooler in the driveway in Great
    Bend .

The humidity is almost just as bad and has been making life miserable. I live in Salina which is just north of Wichita on I-135. It has been humid all summer long. I have to think that this summer heat has been the worst that it has been in a very long time. I seriously can't remember a summer like this. Hope that the heat turns off some really soon and we can get a real soaker of a rain soon also.

Texas is the same way...Trees and lawns are all turning brown, water rationing with no end to this in sight. Been in Texas ten years and am missing the wonderful weather we had in the Bay area in Calif.

My son and daughter-in-law live in Wichita. They said it is like being in a convection oven. Maybe this tropical storm/hurricane coming to Texas will help move the heat a bit.
Ever been to Hen Feathers, your LQS? I love that place. My daughter-in-law and I had such fun picking out quilt fabric. I cant wait to visit it again.

Here in lower Alabama we are so dry the leaves on my maple tree and turning beautiful shades of red and falling! Our weather man said trees and grass need 30 inches of rain to stay alive. Oh, help.
