I am from Salina also, but live in Texas. Graduated from the old Salina High in 1951. I remember sleeping out side on the porch back then, no air conditiones. We hung wet sheets at the windows to get a cool breez. I lived at the corner of 9th and Elm, now the gov.t center.
It is very hot here also, I have a black top drive and it is even cracking.

Hot, hot, hot and humid in Chicago. Enough rain to cause flooding in the suburbs north of the city.
Wonder what winter will be like.
Do you think the earthquake in Japan really caused this weird weather?

The heat must have moved East this year. We are just outside Death Valley in California and are actually having a fairly cool summer. That's not to say cold, it will reach 107 today and was 99 at 10:00 pm last night. But I remember summers where it hit 120+. Luckily because of the lack of rain (all year long), we can use swamp coolers. So our electric bill stays low. I can't imaging having to run a refrigeration unit in this heat.

Yeah, that is what we had in Denver. They are great in a dry climate
