This reminded me of my 98 year old mother. I talk to her about 2-3 minutes everyday. She lives in St. Louis and I live in Louisville, KY. Same parallel lines, what weather they have we get about 1-2 days later. Everyday she asks me what my weather is like. It's January, it's cold. I never say that to her, but that's what I'm thinking.

I've spent too much time inside this winter so my DH went out and bought a snowmobile. He says it will help with my winter blues - Nice way to justify the purchase. Who knows, anything might help.

Winter is just another season-----we complain about the cold in winter but then when Summer comes, we complain about the heat. Wonder if some of us are ever satisfied or is it we just like to complain?
And polar vortex is just the name of a front-----they change it up from time to time to keep it interesting. We have heard of the Polar Express and lots of others. It has nothing to do with global warming.

All I can say is Yippie! More days off school and I can.....QUILT!
The term Polar Vortex is not new. Weather people have been using the terms since the 50's or longer but we just now grabbed on to it for some reason. I found this short video from the TODAY SHOW a broadcast few weeks ago. http://thehill.com/video/in-the-news/194828-al-roker-polar-vortex-is-real It is just a little snippet to help us be at ease with our wonderful winter weather this year and the news makers over use of "Polar Vortex".
Bottom line, enjoy the changes we have in our weather because that is what makes each year unique and memorable. Just ask your grand parents, great grandparents or read their diaries or letter. Quilt on Ladies and Gents, quilt on!

Have to agree with WMUTeach, cold weather great time for quilting. At night I get cozy with the quilt I am currently hand quilting and enjoy just being able to see and do well enough to make quilts. Also just thankful to be able to afford the materials to enjoy my hobby.
