My DD just told me her husband's last day at work is this Friday. He's 35 and has an MBA so I'm hoping that his young age and college ed. will help him.
So now my stay-at-home-mom DD will start looking for a job too just in case. She has a Bachelors degree so I hope all their education will help not hurt them. But I know alot of places will tell them they're over qualified.
What a rotten time of year to get rid of employees (although I know there is no "good" time of year to lose your job).
    Thanks for letting me vent.

You are right, there is no good time to lose your job! It does seem worse when it happens around the holidays. Times are tough and getting worse.Hopefully one of them will find a job. :|

My daughter's place of employment terminated 300 employees the day before Thanksgiving. The company can get the work done for less in the South. My daughter thought she was safe being in management, but no such luck. Merry Christmas. She is changing her line of work and going to school while she has her unemployment, but it will tough. A SIL was terminated in January - he was the vice president of a good sized company, so no one is safe. The financial situation there is more positive. He, too, is entering the health care field.

Times are not easy for so many this year.

So sorry to hear this bad news, no day is a good one when you find out this kind of news. Very depressing. Hope things get better.

I hate hearing this at this time of the year. Our youngest DS has started posting web sites that are out sourcing their jobs to foreign countries & hoping that us, Americans, United We stand, will boycott them. I've gotten to where I refuse to talk to someone I can no longer understand too. But it's just amazing that the companies are doing this. Don't they realize that 'on down the road' it is going to bite them in the butt? EVENTUALLY it will get to them. Support our US workers!

There is no good time to be unemployed, my DS lost his job in Oct. I feel your pain. We want to help but know they have to make it on their own if possible. At least his wife is employed.
