What a wonderful albeit back breaking job you did! Gorgeously landscaped as well. Love those frog chasers. You are an encouragement to all of us that we can accomplish what we set our minds to. Thank you for sharing.

The pond is beautiful and so are the frog chasers. I knew someone once whose koi were all eaten by a blue heron. She was so outraged - but what can you do?

I nannied for a dentist and his wife and they had a small pond. There was one big frog and when a smaller one showed up, he ran it off. I love your pond. I could sit and watch water all day long. I nannied for an attorney and he had a beautiful Koi pond. Me and the little girl would sit out there and count the fish, and then an uncle thought the pond was unsafe and filled it in. Sad, sad, sad. You worked very hard for this oasis, enjoy it.

Sandee......do you have to put heaters in it during the winter?..LOVE the landscaping!

I've been told that only about the top 4" of water would freeze but I find that hard to believe since when we had an above ground pool 4ft. deep I was able to walk on top of it!

Hi There SANDEE,
Love Your pond. It is awesome.I love the flowers too. I wish mine looked like yours.

We made a koi fish pond out of an old hot tub . We have low flowers around it on 3 sides plus a 3 teired waterfall, hosta and various ornamental grasses . We keep adding more plants as we go along . My son dug the hole for the tub but I am sure that it is not as deep as yours and definately not a big.

I was afraid to believe the story about the ability to leave the fish out there in the winter. We lve in Massachusetts . My DH kept the waterfall running all winter and covered half the pond with the hot tub cover. It did freeze over tho . In the spring I held my breath as DH uncovered the pond . But there was nothing to worry about . All the fish were alive and well.

As for the frogs , my 3yr old foster child would rush up to the pond and scare all the frogs away. She really wanted to pet the frogs. So I taught her that she needed to teach the frogs that she respected their space. It took time but I finally got her to do just that. I have a couple of pics here of the frog to family interaction. I wish I could show You better pics but the foster child is in protective custody so I can't post a pic of Her in public forum.

The pics were taken when We had to take all the fish out once to clean the pond. We put them into the kiddy pool . So the rest of the family wildlife enjoyed seeing the new friends up close and personal.

I will go and see if I can find a pic of the pond.
