painting hard wood floors..

I agree! I have hardwood floors and stained woodwork and can't imagine putting paint on any of it but it's yours so research it, do it, and post a picture for us all to admire!!!

The floor upstairs already has a coat of floor paint on it from previous owner so I am not painting on my hardwood floors in the rest of the house, just 3rd floor. I will post pics when done and will start to map it out on paper first! Thanks!!!

Well, painting a hardwood floor. I am currently re-doing the hardwood floors in my home in California. The previous tenants never took their shoes off when they came into the house and never place rugs in the traffic areas.
You will have to ask yourself "What shoes can walk on this floor after you re-do. Ask an expert first.

I too cringed at "painting hardwood floors", because my entire house is hardwood floors, and we LOVE our floors. But, I can see how you would want to do that. I would use Acrylic paints, then put Krylon clear poly coat over it. It should last a good long time.

Not done it myself, but I have seen this done on the DIY channels. Especially in older homes where the wood flroor was worn, but they didn't want to cover them entirely up. They painted a rug under the dining room table to get the look they wanted. Also saw one show where they painted tiles on the floor in the kitchen. Black and white checkerboard painted on the floor. They did put sealer on it to helpo it last and not scratch off. I'm sure you could google it for info.

I think it is a great idea. Make sure the sealer that you get does not yellow with age. You will have to read the instructions very well to get this info. I cannot remember if it is oil based or water based, but one of them is famous for turning yellow with age. I would love to see the picture when you have painted your quilt.
