They are very pretty. I have a kit I bought several years ago.

I have heard of making similar beads with fabric. Always thought I would try it but never did. I think it could be a good group activity.

A friend made this for me, I couldn't believe it when she said the beads were made from paper.

Curiosity sparked, so I went to YouTube and found a few videos on how to do paper beads......tempting...and yes, it was what my daughters did as a craft at summer camp when they were youngsters.... One of the videos made mention of getting a bead maker kit from target for $10..... Thinking maybe ggd(7) might like for Christmas.....

My niece and I would make these when she was younger. We'd ransack the house to find colorful ads, and go through my scrapbooking stuff to find neat papers, and use ModPodge to hold it all together. We'd just wind the strips around cocktail straws and snip them off when they were dry, so they had plastic cores. You can do all sorts of fun stuff like add little strips of colorful foil or fuzzy yarn or anything you want, really.

Great for little girl "fashion" jewelry, and a fun rainy day project. Somewhere I still have some that we made with some old battered Monopoly money.

We didn't coat ours in acrylic so ours were vulnerable to water, but for children to make and play with they were great. And so, so cheap!
