I know the stars you mean. We made them when I was a little girl and sold them. I have recently tried making them again. http://www.highhopes.com/3dstar.html shows how to make the stars. I have tried making smaller stars by using narrower paper strips, ribbon or velum. It is amazing how nice they are. I hope this site is a help to you.

They keep for years and year this way, if you take care not to crush them when you put the ornaments away at the end of the season. My mom still has ones I made as a child.
